Short Description

The technical program focused on "A Model Passenger Vessel Safety Program For State Regulators," by looking at policies and practices gained from over 50 years of experience in regulating small passenger vessels by the US Coast Guard and voluntary passenger vessel safety associations such as PVA. Experts in the field presented topics from a variety of perspectives on the themes including:

• Certification and safety inspection issues
• Construction and arrangement of passenger vessels
• Stability and seaworthiness
• Passenger and crew safety
• Machinery and electrical installations
• Fire protection and fire fighting
• Lifesaving equipment
• Passenger vessel operations
• Crew qualifications and training
